Airsoft Gun History

If you find airsoft games an exciting hobby and have a fascination with all things Airsoft, then it’s only right that you learn all about its history as well. Here’s a look at how it all started:

Where it started: Japan

Airsoft guns were first manufactured in Japan, where it’s illegal for private citizens to buy and own a firearm. However, replica firearms are legal enough so these guns have long been available in the country.

Pellet guns of the 80s

The early 1980s marked the development and mass production of BB guns that could shoot pellets with a green gas canister, simulating the experience of firing a real gun. The guns were an instant success.

Target practice guns

BB guns were primarily used for target shooting practice. It wasn’t long before this evolved into combative games, says Airsoft Dome. With plastic pellets, it was now possible to shoot at targets without dealing injury or harm. That’s how combative and gaming clubs came to be. Those with a passion for all things military or who were into strategy games took to the games like duck to water.

Airsoft games

These games evolved until Airsoft guns and gaming finally reached American and European shores in the early 90s. That’s when the popularity of the games boomed. Today, there are plenty of Airsoft gaming clubs in the country. And with the development and production of better gear, guns and ammos, the fascination with all things Airsoft seems stronger than ever. As more and more people recognize the realness and authenticity Airsoft gameplays provide, it’s proving a great venue for those who want to experience real-life shooting, or practice their shooting skills without paying too much for ammo costs.

At this point, it’s safe to say Airsoft gear, guns and games have come a long way. And with the way things are going, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to let up any time soon.
