If you’re ready to start on a career in dentistry and put up your own dental clinic, here are a few tips to help reduce the stress and hassles that are sure to come with the dental office construction:
Know how much space you’ll need
Determine the size of your office. Be sure to set enough room for your waiting area. When things gets busy—and hopefully, they will—you wouldn’t want your patients all trying to fit into a small, cramped and crowded space.
Pick a good spot
If you’re thinking about putting one up in your neighborhood, you’ll want to pick a spot that’s a bit of distance away from all the other dentists in the area. If you want higher chances of encouraging walk-ins, a storefront location makes for an ideal choice. If you work mostly by referral, you could opt for spots that are a bit out of the way, but more cost-efficient, budget-wise.
Consider parking and public transit
Do you have enough parking for your patients and staff? Is there a public transportation hub nearby? Customers often factor these in when they choose a dental office.
Lease
Your build-out costs will set you back a whole lot. You’ll want to make sure you pick a lease that goes with at least a 10-year commitment, says Perio-Implant Advisory. Work out some free rent period with the owner to cover the months it’ll take for the dental construction office to be finished.
Set up your office
You’ll need to look into getting your phone lines up as well as the right equipment and furniture in. Many customers consider the age and quality of your equipment and tools, though. If they see you with decrepit tools, that might make them think twice about making an appointment with you. Pick new machines to inspire confidence in your patients instead.
