Reasons to Invest in Elastomeric Roof Coatings

Many of us want to find ways to invest in our businesses and keep our bottom line prices down. There is certainly a lot of overhead that goes into owning a business, but unfortunately, most of it cannot be avoided. If you’re going to be putting in the money anyway, make sure it’s a good value! This is never truer than when it comes to roofing. A great roof can last for many years and save you money on costly repairs over a long period of time. One of the best options in modern roofing technology is elastomeric roof coatings.

Finding the Right Material
There are many benefits to using acrylic roof coating, but it’s important that you choose the right coating for the job. There are many products on the market, so you will need to pick the material that works best with your environment. You’ll want to consider your roof’s location, the slope, the current condition it’s in, and any high heat or UV exposure it is subjected to on a regular basis. For example, the material you use to paint a house will be very different for the kind you use to make adhesives. In the same way, you need to make sure you get the right acrylic for your roof.

The Basics
Acrylic elastomeric roof coatings refer to a fully adhered, liquid-applied monolithic, membrane that is formed during installation on the roof. These coatings are applied between five and ten times thicker than normal house paint, forming a virtually impenetrable waterproof seal on your roof. The thickness for most roofs will be between 15 and 30 mils, making it a membrane-like material. The membrane itself actually comes out of a can, which is why there are no pre-fabricated parts involved. The membrane has no seams and is fully adhered.

Excellent Durability
Durability is elastomeric roofing’s key property. This durability includes resistance to UV degradation from the sun, which explains why this material is used so frequently on roofs. This protection ensures that the roof substrate is protected, meaning the roof will maintain its integrity better over time.
