Unfortunately, not everyone was born with perfect teeth. Luckily, however, if an individual is unhappy with the appearance of their smile, a dentist can help. There are several Cosmetic Dentistry procedures that can correct a variety of problems to improve the appearance of the individual’s smile
Tooth Loss
Tooth loss can occur during an accident or due to tooth decay. Tooth loss can have a very negative affect on the appearance of a person’s smile. If an individual is suffering from tooth loss, there are treatments. The least expensive course of treatment is a dental bridge. A dental bridge consists of a false tooth to replace the missing one and is anchored on the existing teeth with a wire. The other treatment is dental implants. This is a permanent solution to the problem as the implant is drilled right into the jawbone and a false tooth is attached. It is a more expensive treatment than dental bridges.
Cracked or Misshapen Teeth
When a person’s teeth are cracked or misshapen, there are a few different treatments. The first is dental bonding. This is used to repair a chipped tooth. The dentist would use a resin-like material to create an extension of the tooth to repair the chip. A dental crown can also work. If a person has chipped or misshapen teeth, porcelain veneers can help. The dentist would shave the top layer off of the teeth so that the veneers can adhere properly. They would then place the porcelain veneers over the problem teeth. This can completely change the appearance of a person’s smile.
Bite and Crowding Problems
If a person has an overbite, and underbite, or if their teeth are too crowded, Cosmetic Dentistry can resolve the problem. One of the most common treatments is traditional metal braces. They can properly align a person’s jaw so that when they smile their bite will be even. A second treatment is Invisalign. Many people choose this treatment because the aligners used in the treatment are transparent, making them difficult to see. Also, they can be removed when the person brushes their teeth and eats. Either treatment works excellently to correct a bite or overcrowding problem.
