When most people think of rescue teams, they think of the first responders. That is, firefighters, police, paramedics, and even the National Guard, but most people do not think of private contractors. While this may not be a large industry, it is an important one. Private safety and rescue services provide these services for businesses that may not know that they need them until they need to have a team onsite. OK, so there are private safety contractors, but what do they actually do?
Provide Rescue Services
This one is the most obvious, but also one of the most important. The teams employed by private safety and rescue companies are highly trained on how to perform a rescue in many different scenarios. These will vary by company so make sure the company you choose can cover your situation. They are likely to tell you if they cannot since safety is literally their business. A confined space rescue service team will go in and bring your team out in the event of a disaster.
Training
These safety and rescue companies do not only provide their services, but they also provide their knowledge. You can hire these companies to safety training to your employees and make sure they are going to be safe while at work.
Inspection and Consulting
If you are worried about your OSHA compliance, then you can hire an independent safety company to perform an inspection to OSHA standards. This will let you see where you stand and where you need to make improvements. By hiring an inspector, you can find out about any potential violations before the actual inspector comes who can then penalize you if your business is not compliant.
There are a number of services that are provided by private safety and rescue companies. While most of these services are available through public channels, they are usually not available for businesses who need as needed help.
